Mediation

After representing numerous clients as a litigator at mediation over 21 years of practice, I obtained general civil litigation training so that I could utilize my litigation skills and experience as a mediator to assist Alabama lawyers, litigants, and the courts in resolution of civil cases. Hourly rates vary depending upon the type of case and number of parties. I am happy to travel to suit the needs of the parties.

Family Law

Recognizing the needs of families, I also provide family law representation in matters of divorce, child custody, and child support. I am a certified children's advocate in Alabama family courts.

I serve as guardian ad litem for mentally ill individuals, protecting their rights in involuntary commitment cases.

Keith McKerall

Why I'm focused on your litigation rights...

I graduated from The University of Alabama in 1991 with a degree in English and a minor in Finance. Frankly, I realized quickly that to pay back the student loan debt I had incurred by putting myself through Alabama I would need a different career path. My time working in college as a bartender had helped me realize I had a gift for listening and connecting to people. So I decided to pursue the legal career path and attended Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, AL until 1994, when I graduated and was admitted to the Alabama Bar. Soon afterward, I connected to my passion for helping folks who have experienced catastrophe, injury, and setbacks in their lives. I extended my litigation practice to Mississippi in 2014, and then on to Tennessee in 2017. In addition, I am a mediator and a certified guardian ad litem in Alabama. I currently maintain active licenses in three states (AL, MS, TN), and operate out of my home office in the Birmingham, AL area.

Advocacy

Successful advocacy, especially in litigation, requires hard work, time, tenacity, and creativity. Good cases can be lost and bad cases can be won in both the trial courts and appellate courts. I fight for each client I select, whether working on a big case or a small one. As a lawyer, I may have many cases, but each of my clients has only one.

Litigation

I represent accident and injury victims and consumers in Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. I have tried jury cases in north Alabama since 1994, including car wrecks, trucking wrecks, workers' compensation, retaliatory discharge, uninsured motorist, lemon law, land use, business disputes, and medical malpractice. I have also represented clients before the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals and the Alabama Supreme Court.
